10 Major Retail Stores Take A Stand To Say “Merry Christmas” Instead Of Happy Holidays

There is a war on Christmas, but many retailers are starting to fight back. The American Family Association has identified several stores that aren’t bowing to pressure to conform by saying “Happy Holidays” instead of “Merry Christmas.”

Five retail establishments received a “5-Star” rating indicating that they go above and beyond to “promote and celebrate” Christmas on an exceptional basis, including several of the stores we’ve listed here. The others are companies that AFA found use the term “Christmas” on a regular basis. We want to support these stores and tell them we appreciate them celebrating Christmas!

1. Hobby Lobby

This one comes has no surprise as the retailer is known for playing instrumental Christian music throughout the year, closing on Sundays so employees can spend time at church and with families, and their infamous battle at the Supreme Court earlier this year. But the company is actually not only “Nice”, but rather one of the top companies in the nation for its support of keeping Christ in Christmas.

2. Belk

This department store joins Hobby Lobby in being one of the top-rated stores for sporting “Christmas” cheer and avoiding the old, politically-correct “Happy Holidays” adage.

3. Nordstrom

Not only does the high-end department store celebrate Christmas well, they actually wait until after Thanksgiving holiday to have any Christmas decorations in the store. Even better, in an effort to keep their employees from working at all on Thanksgiving, they do the decorating on Wednesday so that the morning of Black Friday the store is transformed and everyone can join in on the Christmas fun at once.

4. Home Depot

According to the AFA, the company uses the term “Christmas” on a regular basis and are thus considered “Christmas-friendly.”

5. Wal-Mart

Wal-Mart is one of only five companies that have earned the AFA “5-Star” rating. They are considered to be a retailer that promotes and celebrates Christmas on an exceptional basis. We like to think this American staple is doing it right!

6. Macy’s

They host the largest parade each year, but the company doesn’t just stop there with their Christmas spirit. They frequently use the word “Christmas” and their New York City storefront even boasts a “Believe” theme this year.

7. JCPenney

JCPenney may have had Lesbian liberal Ellen DeGeneres on their advertisements in years past, but the corporation actually received a “Nice” score from the AFA for keeping Christmas a prominent theme in its shopping experience in stores and online.

8. Bass Pro Shops

The store is friends with Duck Dynasty, but they also frequently promote Christmas. And guns. So we’re extra excited that they made the AFA’s list.

9. Lowe’s

Lowe’s is like Christmas city—especially on their website where Christmas is used almost every other word. With such Christmas spirit abounding, it doesn’t seem likely that there’s any room for “Grinches” around the stores or the amongst the staff!

10. Toys ‘R Us

This one actually kind of surprised us. We would have thought that the company would be teaching kids liberal propaganda, but they seem to boast “Christmas” almost as much as Hobby Lobby. They even feature a “Christmas Catalog” each year filled with toys the kids are drooling over.

No matter where you shop this Christmas season, be sure to use the phrase “Merry Christmas” and correct store clerks if they try to say “Happy Holidays.” Because they can’t silence our voices from spreading Christmas cheer wherever we go!
